Our Story

At Ecosystem Design Companies, we believe landscapes should do more than look beautiful — they should restore, nourish, and reconnect us to the natural world.

Founded in North Florida, our work is rooted in a deep appreciation for native ecosystems, ecological resilience, and thoughtful design. Founder Kenneth Wayne Baker developed a passion for horticulture and sustainable living through years of studying the relationship between healthy soil, food systems, and human well-being for over 15 years. His connection to food and agriculture continues to shape the company’s philosophy today — emphasizing landscapes that are not only beautiful, but productive, restorative, and deeply connected to the environment around them.

We specialize in creating landscapes that support biodiversity, conserve water, improve soil health, and provide lasting beauty through Florida-native and Florida-Friendly plants.

From edible gardens and food forests to pollinator habitats and native landscape restoration, every project is designed with intention — blending functionality, sustainability, and a sense of place. Our goal is to help homeowners transform outdoor spaces into thriving ecosystems that feel both natural and deeply personal.

We believe that healthy landscapes create healthier communities, healthier wildlife populations, and a healthier future for generations to come.
